Bibliophilos

I challenge any thinking person not to have a complete nerdgasm at these pictures of Priceline.com founder Jay Walker's private library.

Secondary nerdgasms are likely once you read the text. The library is comprehensively exquisite.

Only a few things spoil the utter perfection of this place. One, the LED-lit glass panels are a little tacky. Two, the rock arena-style stagelighting is a touch on the crass side. And three, only an internet billionaire would stick Post-It notes in a 15th century illuminated manuscript.

No doubt they all have "citation needed" written on them.

I want it.

A library is a good asset for a writer. I think Borges owned the largest library in Argentina - hence 'The Library of Babel'.

C S Lewis didn't own a large library, but he did once perform the notable task of reading the entire 17th century collection of the Bodlean Library while researching for a book.

I think I once had a dream about that place. It's a non-fiction writer's dream library - apart of course from the points you noted.

Of course it must be just for ego value - unless he can read "Grey's Anatomy" like most of us read a Garfield comic. No one could ever get through those books in a lifetime. Still it'd be a great venue to play laser tag.

The 'freaking silver ball' is an actual size replica of the satellite Sputnik if I am no mistaken. The stage lighting could be moving lazer beam security. Probably not, but it would be fitting. Jaymez
